Leimaram Waterfall
Leimaram Waterfall, also popularly known as the Sadu Chiru Waterfall, is perhaps the most iconic natural attraction in the vicinity of the Jiribam-Imphal route. It is located at the foothills of the Sadu Chiru hills and consists of three distinct falls cascading down from significant heights. The f irst fall is the most accessible and popular among tourists, featuring a large pool at the bottom where visitors can enjoy the cool, refreshing spray of mountain water. The water is crystal clear and remains cold throughout the year, originating from the pristine springs of the upper hills. The surrounding area is a dense canopy of tropical forest, providing a habitat for diverse butterfly species and wild ferns. To reach the second and third tiers, one must undertake a moderately challenging trek through steep stone steps and narrow paths, which offers a more secluded and raw experience of the wilderness. The site has been developed with stone-paved walkways and resting sheds to accommodate the growing number of tourists. It serves as a vital picnic spot for locals from Jiribam and Imphal alike. The sound of the falling water combined with the chirping of insects creates a natural symphony that is incredibly relaxing. The local community manages the site, ensuring that the ecological balance is maintained while providing basic amenities to visitors.
