Thangshi Water Fall

Jiribam, Manipur, India
Thangshi Water Fall is a serene and relatively less-crowded alternative to the more famous waterfalls in the region. Located near the village of Phayeng, it is hidden deep within a forested valley. The waterfall is characterized by its gentle flow over a series of broad, flat rock shelves, creating a "curtain" effect that is visually stunning. Unlike the thunderous roar of larger falls, Thangshi offers a soothing, rhythmic sound that invites visitors to linger and relax. The path to the waterfall involves a short walk through a lush forest path lined with wild wildflowers and towering bamboo groves. The area is exceptionally clean, thanks to the efforts of the local community who consider the forest and its water sources to be sacred. The water is safe for a light bath and is known for its mineral-rich quality. Many locals believe the water has healing properties for skin ailments. Small stalls near the parking area sell local delicacies like steamed corn and herbal teas. The site is a favorite for local couples and families seeking a quiet weekend getaway. It provides an excellent opportunity for "forest bathing," where one can fully immerse in the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world.
