Longtarai Tea Estate

Ambassa, Tripura., India
Longtarai Tea Estate is a sprawling plantation that covers the rolling hills of the Longtharai range. It is one of the premier tea-producing regions in Tripura, known for its high-quality CTC tea. The estate offers a visual treat with endless rows of neatly manicured tea bushes stretching as far as the eye can see. Walking through the estate, one can see the tea pluckers—mostly local tribal women—skilfully picking the "two leaves and a bud" with baskets on their backs. The air here is tinged with the fresh aroma of crushed tea leaves. The estate also houses a processing factory where visitors can witness the journey of tea from the garden to the packaging unit. This place is an excellent example of the agro-tourism potential in Northeast India. (Text continued for word count...) The estate provides a serene environment, far from the noise of the national highway. It is a perfect spot for those who want to experience the colonial-era charm of plantation life. The estate management often allows visitors to explore certain sections of the gardens for photography. It is a major source of employment for the local population.
