Natural Boundaries and Area: The sanctuary covers a large, contiguous forest area of 36. 34 sq. km (about 14 sq. miles), defined by the Maenam-Tendong ridge. The altitude gradient facilitates a range of forest types, from temperate to sub-alpine, which is its main "architectural" feature.
Trekking Trails: The primary "structure" is the robust 4-hour trek trail from Ravangla to Maenam Peak, a challenging but well-defined path through the alpine forest. Simple forest rest houses and shelters for trekkers may be found along the way. -
