Reviews Of Perwaghagh Falls

Khunti, Jharkhand, India
Perwaghagh Falls is a majestic natural wonder tucked away in the dense forests of the Torpa block. The name is derived from two Mundari words: 'Perwa' meaning pigeon and 'Ghagh' meaning home, literally translating to the "House of Pigeons." Legend has it that thousands of pigeons used to live in the crevices behind the falling water curtains. The waterfall is formed on the Chata River and is known for its crystal-clear water and the dramatic height from which it plunges into a deep pool below. The approach to the falls involves a scenic drive through tribal villages and thick canopy covers, followed by a short descent via stairs. The site is relatively secluded compared to other commercial falls, preserving its raw and wild beauty. The water here remains cool even during the peak of summer, and the surrounding rocks are covered in thick moss and ferns. It is a multi-tiered waterfall where the upper reaches are accessible via a small trek, offering a different perspective of the forest valley. The air here is exceptionally pure, and the only sounds are the rhythmic thumping of the waterfall and the distant calls of forest birds. This place is deeply integrated with local tribal folklore, and the villagers hold the water source in high regard. The river then winds its way through the valley, supporting a rich ecosystem of indigenous flora and fauna.
