Satrenga Dam
Satrenga Dam, technically a part of the massive Hasdeo Bango project, is the crown jewel of water tourism in Chhattisgarh. This destination has been significantly developed by the state tourism board to resemble a coastal resort, earning it the title of the "Goa of Chhattisgarh." The dam is built o n the Hasdeo River and is the largest multipurpose water project in the state. The reservoir is massive, spanning thousands of hectares, and is dotted with numerous small, uninhabited islands that create a mystical landscape. The water here is remarkably clear and reflects the blue sky, making it look like a sea in the middle of a forest. The area is surrounded by the Mahadev hills, which add a layer of majestic protection to the water body. Over the last few years, the government has introduced luxury houseboats, floating restaurants, and high-speed water sports to attract international tourists. It is not just a source of irrigation and power but a thriving eco-tourism hub. The dam provides a habitat for various aquatic species and serves as a vital water source for the industrial city of Korba.
