The name Ghughra likely refers to the deep, resonant sound of the water, a roaring sound echoing through the dense, surrounding forest of Sal and Bamboo trees. The natural setting is rugged and pristine, appealing to trekkers and serious nature enthusiasts. Due to its distance and the need for a short trek, it maintains a secluded and unspoiled charm. The area is known for its biodiversity and a true sense of wilderness. Proper caution is advised due to the steep, often slippery, and unmarked trails.

Health & safety: Hire a local guide—the trail is unmarked and slippery. Carry a rope if trekking to the base. Beware of wild animals, especially early morning/late evening.

Accommodation: Stay in the resorts/homestays in Mainpat or hotels in Ambikapur. There are absolutely no facilities at the remote waterfall site.
