Travel Tips Of Thomson's Steps

Thomson's Steps are a set of historic, wide stone steps leading down to the Upper Ganga Canal near the IIT Roorkee campus. They were named after James Thomason, the Lieutenant-Governor of the North-Western Provinces, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Thomason College of Civil Engineer ing and the construction of the canal itself, which was a monumental engineering achievement in the 19th century. The steps were primarily built to provide access to the canal's waters and banks for students, engineers, and workers.
