Vansda National Park

Dandi, Gujarat, India
Wildlife Sanctuary: Vansda National Park is a protected area representing the thick woodlands of the Dangs. Spanning over 24 Square Kilometers, it was once the private hunting ground of the Maharaja of Vansda. The park is unique because it is situated in the Western Ghats (Sahyadri Range) and featur es tropical moist deciduous forests. It is known for its "Katas" Bamboo groves and massive Teak Trees, some of which are over 100 Years old. The canopy is so dense in certain parts that even during the day, the forest floor remains in shadow. The park is home to a variety of fauna including the Leopard, Hyena, Wild Boar, Spotted Deer, and the rare Four-horned Antelope. For birdwatchers, it is a paradise with over 150 Species of birds like the Great Indian Black Woodpecker and Malabar Trogon. The Ambika River flows through the park, adding to its scenic beauty. It is one of the few places in Gujarat where the forest remains lush and green almost throughout the year. The lack of heavy tourism makes it a peaceful destination for true nature enthusiasts who want to experience the jungle in its rawest form.
