Venoor Bahubali Monolith
The Venoor Bahubali Monolith is a towering 35-foot statue of Lord Bahubali, standing on the banks of the Gurupura River. Carved out of a single block of granite, this statue was installed in 1604 AD by the Ajila King, Thimmanna Ajila. It is one of the five major monolithic statues of Bahubali in Ka rnataka. The statue depicts Bahubali in a state of deep meditation, standing upright in the 'Kayotsarga' posture. His face radiates a sense of eternal calm and detachment, symbolizing the core Jain philosophy of non-violence and renunciation. The site is part of a larger complex that includes several ancient Jain 'Basadis' like the Akkangala Basadi and Shantinatha Basadi.
