Devi Point

Amravati, Maharashtra, India
Devi Point is one of the most spiritually and naturally significant spots in Chikhaldara. It is located on a hilltop near the serene Shakkar Lake. The point features a small, ancient temple dedicated to a local Goddess. A unique feature of this temple is a natural spring where water continuously fl ows from the rocks inside the cave-like sanctum, even during the peak of summer. This water is believed to be the origin of the Chandrabhaga River, which later flows through the plains. To reach the temple, visitors must descend a series of stone steps that offer panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and the ruins of the Gawilgarh Fort. The atmosphere here is deeply peaceful, filled with the sound of bells and the cool mountain breeze. From the edge of the cliff, one can see the vast expanse of the Melghat forest spreading out like a green carpet. The point is also a great spot for observing the local geography and the fort's massive bastions from a distance. During the monsoon, the entire area is shrouded in thick fog, giving it a mystical appearance. Pilgrims visit throughout the year to seek blessings and collect the holy water. It is a perfect blend of faith and natural beauty, making it a mandatory stop for anyone visiting the hill station. The path leading to the point is lined with local vendors selling forest produce like wild honey and medicinal herbs.
