Gabbar Hills

Palanpur, Gujarat, India
Gabbar Hills is a profoundly sacred hillock located near the Ambaji temple town, serving as a cornerstone of Hindu pilgrimage in Gujarat. Rising to an altitude of approximately 480 meters, it is traditionally believed to be the original abode of Goddess Amba. According to ancient scriptures, the he art of Sati fell at this very spot, making it one of the most significant Shakti Peethas. The hill is steep and rugged, requiring a climb of 300 stone steps followed by a trek, though a modern ropeway now provides easier access. At the summit, a small niche houses a lamp that has been kept burning for centuries, visible from the main temple at night. The panoramic views of the Aravalli ranges from the top are breathtaking. It is not just a religious site but a place where nature and divinity merge seamlessly. Many devotees perform the circumambulation of the hill to earn spiritual merit. The atmosphere is charged with chants of "Jai Ambe" throughout the year.
