Kumbhariya Jain Temple

Palanpur, Gujarat, India
Kumbhariya Jain Temple is a magnificent group of Jain shrines dating back to the 11th and 13th centuries. Once a thriving city with 360 temples, the site now houses five primary temples dedicated to different Tirthankaras, including Shri Neminath and Shri Parshvanath. These temples are contemporari es of the famous Dilwara temples of Mount Abu and exhibit a similar level of architectural finesse. Built under the patronage of Vimal Shah, the marble carvings here are so intricate that they resemble lace. Each ceiling, pillar, and arch tells a story from Jain mythology. The complex is a designated heritage site and serves as a vital center for pilgrims and history buffs alike. The serenity of the white marble against the backdrop of the rugged hills creates a meditative atmosphere. Despite the passage of centuries, the detailed depictions of celestial beings and floral motifs remain remarkably preserved. It is a testament to the golden age of Solanki architecture in Gujarat.
