Gurudwara Manji Sahib

Nawanshahr, Punjab, India
Gurudwara Manji Sahib is perhaps the most central and accessible historical site in Nawanshahr. It marks the spot where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stayed for over five months and nineteen days. During this long stay, the Guru held morning and evening Diwans, spreading the message of Sikhism and providing spiritual guidance to the people of the region. Accompanying him were prominent figures like Mata Gujri Ji, Bhai Mati Das Ji, and Bhai Gurditta Ji. It is here that the Guru reportedly renamed the town from "Neemashahr" to "Nawanshahr" (New City). A historical well, used by Mata Gujri Ji to prepare Langar, is still preserved within the premises. The Gurudwara is a hub of daily activity and serves as the spiritual heart of the city. Its central location makes it a must-visit for anyone entering the district. The continuous chanting of Gurbani creates a powerful spiritual vibration that resonates throughout the surrounding streets.
