How To Reach King George Point

Introduction: King George Point is a captivating viewpoint in Matheran, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. It is most famous for offering stunning, close-up views of the beautiful Charlotte Lake, the primary source of water for the hill station. During the monsoon, the point becomes par ticularly spectacular as waterfalls cascade down the surrounding cliffs. Key Features: It provides a picturesque panorama of the deep valleys and the reservoir of Charlotte Lake. The point is located a short distance from Echo Point and Honeymoon Point, making it a popular stop on the Southern circuit of viewpoints. It is named after King George V during the British era.

How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), Mumbai (100 KMS away). Take a taxi or train to Neral.

By Train: Nearest major station is Neral Railway Station. Take the Matheran Hill Railway (Toy Train) from Neral to Matheran Station (approx. 2. 7 KMS from the point).

By Road: Drive up to Dasturi Naka (9 KMS from Neral). From Dasturi, hire a pony or walk to the point (approx. 4. 5 KMS). No private vehicles are allowed past Dasturi Naka.

Local Transport: Walk, or hire a pony/horse from the market/station. It is an easy walk of about 40 minutes from the marketplace.
