How To Reach Louisa Point
Matheran, Maharashtra, India:
The Prabal Fort Watchtower: Louisa Point is one of the most popular and dramatically situated viewpoints in Matheran, famous for offering a breathtakingly clear, expansive view of the ruined forts of Prabalgad (the most prominent view) and Vishalgad in the distance. The point is a massive, flat prom ontory with two distinct tiers that allow visitors to look down into the deep valley below. From its vantage point on the western edge of the plateau, you can also look back at the Matheran town and its wall, as well as spot the nearby Charlotte Lake and Echo Point. It is particularly renowned for the unique natural rock formation visible from the point, which strikingly resembles a Lion's Head or a hooded cobra, making it a spectacular photo subject. The point's strategic location made it an important historical vantage point, and today it is a prime spot for picnics and dramatic photography, capturing the raw, rugged beauty of the Western Ghats.:

How to Reach

By Air: Nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (BOM) (approx. 90 KMS). Taxi to Neral, then Dasturi Naka.

By Train: Take a local train from Mumbai to Neral Junction. From Neral, take a shared taxi to Dasturi Naka. From Dasturi, hire a horse/hand-pulled rickshaw or walk (approx. 4 KMS) to the point.

By Road: Drive to Dasturi Naka parking lot. From the Matheran market/station, the point is an easy and popular horse ride or a scenic 45-60 minute walk.

By Local Transport: A popular route is to walk from the main market to Charlotte Lake and then continue the short walk to the point, or simply hire a pony/horse from the market. :
