How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Chennai International Airport (MAA), located approximately 140-150 KMS away. From the airport, one can hire a pre-booked taxi or use state-run buses to reach Vellore city. From Vellore, local transport is needed to reach the base of the hills. The nearest non-major airport is Tirupati Airport (TIR), about 110 KMS away, but connectivity is limited.

By Train: The closest major railway station is Vellore Katpadi Junction (KPD), which is well-connected to major Indian cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. From KPD, the hills are about 18-20 KMS away. One can hire an auto-rickshaw or a taxi directly to the base of Palamathi Hills. Vellore Cantonment (VLR) is a closer, secondary station, roughly 12 KMS away.

By Road: Palamathi Hills is easily accessible by road, being only about 10 KMS from the heart of Vellore city via NH 38. Visitors can drive their own vehicles or hire a taxi/cab from the city. The road to the base of the hills is generally good, but the last stretch might be narrow. Government and private bus services run towards the villages near the hill's base, which is an affordable option, requiring a short walk or auto-rickshaw ride from the drop-off point.

By Local Transport: From Vellore city center, the most common and convenient local transport options are auto-rickshaws and local taxis (like Ola/Uber). Auto-rickshaws are suitable for shorter distances but should be negotiated for the full return trip. A local taxi is the best choice for a round trip with waiting time.
