By Train: The closest and most important railway station is Vellore Katpadi Junction (KPD), located about 8-9 KMS from the park. KPD is a major junction with trains connecting to most parts of South India. From KPD, auto-rickshaws and app-based taxis are abundantly available and take about 20-30 minutes to reach the park. Vellore Cantonment (VLR) is a slightly closer station, about 4-5 KMS away.
By Road: Periyar Park is centrally located on Fort Round Road and is extremely easy to reach by road. It is less than 3 KMS from the main Vellore bus stand. City buses from various parts of Vellore have stops nearby. One can easily drive a private vehicle or hire a taxi/auto-rickshaw from any point in the city, making road access highly convenient.
By Local Transport: Due to its central location, auto-rickshaws are the most common and fastest way to reach the park from anywhere in the city. Always negotiate the fare or ensure the driver uses the meter. App-based taxi services (e. g. , Ola/Uber) operate in Vellore and provide a comfortable, fixed-rate alternative. The park is also within walking distance (less than 1 KM) from the main gate of the Vellore Fort complex.
