How To Reach Phairoisam Park

Jiribam, Manipur, India
A Hilltop Haven Offering Breathtaking Scenic Views:The Phairoisam Park is a hilltop leisure and viewing park, distinguishing itself from other local parks by offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, rolling hills, and possibly the Barak River catchment area in the distance. I ts location is the key attraction, providing a serene environment at an elevation that captures cool breezes and stunning sunrises/sunsets. The park is designed not only as a green space but as a dedicated viewpoint, with thoughtful landscaping and strategically placed seating to maximize the visitor's enjoyment of the vista. It is a favored spot for photographers and those seeking quiet reflection against a backdrop of natural grandeur. The park features a mix of manicured lawns and natural, indigenous tree cover, creating a beautiful contrast. The air at this altitude is exceptionally clean, contributing to a sense of well-being. Local legend sometimes associates the hill with historical events or tribal folklore, adding a layer of cultural significance. The development of the park is part of the local government's effort to promote eco-tourism, leveraging the region's geographical advantages. Due to its elevated position, the park provides excellent opportunities for bird-watching as well, particularly for birds of prey and high-flying migratory species. The experience is one of peaceful isolation, despite the relatively developed nature of the park itself. It is a place where the landscape dominates, offering a moment of quiet awe at the natural scale of the Manipur hills. Visitors often linger longer than anticipated, drawn in by the tranquility and the changing light over the distant landscape.

How to Reach

By Air to Jiribam:Fly into Silchar Airport (IXS) (80 KMS). From there, hire a taxi/shared cab to Jiribam town center. The park is then about 30 KMS by road from the town. The alternative is the longer Imphal International Airport (IMF) route (7-9 hours).

By Train to Jiribam:Take a train to Jiribam Railway Station (JIR). From the station, you will need to hire a private taxi or a local jeep, as the park is on a hill and local shared transport may not go directly to the entrance.

By Road from Jiribam:The park is located approximately 30 KMS from Jiribam town center. The journey is on main roads initially, followed by a climb on a potentially steep and winding hill road, requiring a reliable vehicle. The total travel time is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. Hiring a vehicle for a round trip is the most practical solution.

By Local Transport within Jiribam:Hired taxis or the larger, more powerful local jeeps (Sumos) are the only reliable forms of transport to reach the hilltop park. Auto-rickshaws are unlikely to be suitable for the final steep climb. Negotiate the fare for a return journey, including waiting time, with the driver before setting out. Ensure the vehicle is in good condition for hill driving.
