How To Reach Rokadia Hanuman Temple

Porbandar, Gujarat, India
A Hilltop Sanctuary: Rokadia Hanuman Temple is a highly revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the monkey-god and ardent devotee of Lord Rama. The temple is significant for its location on a small hill or elevated land, offering picturesque views of the surrounding Porbandar town. The word 'Rokadia' in Gujarati generally refers to something substantial or firmly rooted, perhaps hinting at the deep faith associated with the idol or its ancient establishment. The main idol of Lord Hanuman is the temple's central feature, revered by devotees who seek blessings for strength, courage, and protection from evil influences, especially from the effects of Shani (Saturn). The temple complex provides a tranquil and spiritual ambiance, making the journey up to the temple a part of the devotional experience.:The Distinct Deity: A unique characteristic of the main idol is the depiction of Lord Hanuman holding the entire Gandhamadan Parvat (a mountain of medicinal herbs) in one hand, his characteristic mace (Gada) in the other, and often depicted with the deity Shani Devta under his feet. This specific iconography is highly significant and distinguishes it from many other Hanuman temples. The elevated location adds to the feeling of spiritual ascent and peace. Besides the main deity, the temple also houses idols of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman, reinforcing its connection to the Ramayana epic.:
