The temple is situated on the banks of the Netravathi River and is deeply rooted in the legend of Birmanna Pergade and his wife Ammu Ballalthi, who were requested by the Guardian Angels of Dharma to establish this holy site. Every visitor is treated with equal respect regardless of caste or creed, following the four traditional principles of "Danas" which include food, medicine, education, and protection. The temple serves free meals daily to thousands of pilgrims in the Annapoorna Dining Hall, maintaining a legacy of massive scale charity and spiritual discipline that attracts millions of devotees annually.
