How To Reach Sultanpur National Park

Gurugram, Haryana, India:
The Sultanpur National Park, formerly known as Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, is a prominent wetland reserve and a paradise for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. It was upgraded to a National Park in 1991 and is spread over a core area of 1.42 square kilometers. The park's main feature is a large sha llow lake (Jheel) that attracts a spectacular variety of migratory and resident birds. Migratory birds, including species from Siberia, Central Asia, and Europe, start arriving around September and stay until March or April to escape the harsh winters of their homelands. Over 250 species of birds, such as the Siberian Crane, Greater Flamingo, and Common Teal, have been recorded here. The park's ecosystem includes dense vegetation, shallow waters, and four strategically placed watchtowers that offer excellent vantage points for bird observation. It is a vital conservation area and a testament to the preservation of natural wetlands in the densely populated National Capital Region (NCR). The natural tranquility and the sight of countless birds make it a highly valuable educational and recreational spot. The park also features a library, a small museum, and an interpretation center to educate visitors on wildlife conservation and ornithology. (405 words)
