How To Reach Tatwani Hot Spring

Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India
Tatwani Hot Spring is a serene natural wonder tucked away in the lush greenery of the Kangra valley. The spring is famous for its warm, sulfur-rich waters that bubble up from the earth's crust, providing a natural therapeutic experience for all visitors. Surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar mounta in range, the site offers a peaceful escape from the hustle of city life. Local legends often associate the spring with divine origins, making it a sacred spot for the surrounding villages. The water flows into a small, well-maintained pool located within a humble temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva. Visitors often find the atmosphere meditative, as the sound of the nearby river blends with the chanting from the temple. Many believe that the water remains at a constant warm temperature throughout the year, regardless of the freezing Himalayan winters outside. The spring serves as a vital part of the local ecosystem and culture, drawing people for both religious and health reasons. Exploring the area reveals a landscape dotted with boulders, diverse flora, and a shallow stream that runs parallel to the bathing area. The transition from the warm spring water to the cool river water is a highlight for many adventure seekers. It is a place where nature's raw beauty and spiritual tranquility coexist perfectly.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is the Gaggal Airport (also known as Kangra Airport), located about 15 KMS away. From the airport, you can hire a private taxi or take a local bus to reach the vicinity of the springs. The flight connectivity is mainly from Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Train: The closest major railway station is at Pathankot, which is approximately 90 KMS from the site. From Pathankot, you can either take the scenic narrow-gauge "Toy Train" to Kangra or hire a direct taxi. The Toy Train journey offers breathtaking views of the valley but takes longer.

By Road: Tatwani is well-connected by road to major towns like Dharamshala (35 KMS) and Kangra (35 KMS). State-run HRTC buses and private volvos operate regularly from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Manali to Kangra. From the main highway, a smaller link road leads to the village.

By Local Transport: Once you reach Gaggal or Kangra, you can use local buses, auto-rickshaws, or shared jeeps to get closer to the village. The final stretch might involve a short walk or a drive through a narrow but motorable village road. Renting a scooter from McLeod Ganj is a popular option for solo travelers.
