How To Reach Topslip
Topslip is the primary tourist entry point and a major ecological hotspot within the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR), located at an altitude of about 800 feet above sea level. Its name is derived from the practice of sliding (slipping) teak logs down the hill slope from the higher reaches during the Br itish era. Today, it serves as the center for jungle safari activities, trekking, and eco-tourism initiatives run by the Forest Department. Topslip is renowned for its diverse vegetation, including beautiful, old teak forests and dense bamboo clumps. It provides excellent opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife, such as Spotted Deer, Gaur, Wild Boar, various monkeys like the Nilgiri Langur, and numerous species of birds. It is also the gateway to the remote and pristine Parambikulam Tiger Reserve in neighboring Kerala. :
How to Reach
By Air: The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport (CJB), approximately 75 KMS away. Hire a pre-booked taxi to the Topslip/Sethumadai check post.
By Train: The closest railway station is Pollachi Railway Junction (POY), about 37 KMS away. Coimbatore Junction (CBE) is about 72 KMS away. From these stations, hire a taxi or take a local bus to Sethumadai, then hire a jeep or auto-rickshaw for the final few kilometers to the Topslip gate.
By Road: Topslip is accessed via the Pollachi-Sethumadai road. Driving a private vehicle or hiring a cab to the Sethumadai check post is the most comfortable option. The last 8-10 KMS from Sethumadai to Topslip are forest roads, and sometimes private vehicles are restricted, requiring a transfer to forest vehicles.
