Topslip is the primary tourist entry point and a major ecological hotspot within the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR), located at an altitude of about 800 feet above sea level. Its name is derived from the practice of sliding (slipping) teak logs down the hill slope from the higher reaches during the Br itish era. Today, it serves as the center for jungle safari activities, trekking, and eco-tourism initiatives run by the Forest Department. Topslip is renowned for its diverse vegetation, including beautiful, old teak forests and dense bamboo clumps. It provides excellent opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife, such as Spotted Deer, Gaur, Wild Boar, various monkeys like the Nilgiri Langur, and numerous species of birds.
