Kuteti Devi Temple

Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India
The Legend of Kuteti Devi: The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kuteti Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Durga, who is believed to be the protector of the local inhabitants. The history dates back to a king from Kota, Rajasthan, who lost his money during a pilgrimage. After praying at the Vishwanath Tem ple, he found his wealth and eventually married his daughter to a local priest's son. The princess, a devotee of Kuteti Devi, brought the goddess's essence to this hill. The temple provides a panoramic view of the Bhagirathi River and the town below, offering a serene atmosphere for meditation and prayer. It is highly revered by the local Garhwali community as their "Kuldevi" or family deity.
