Lamlai Village

Senapati, Manipur, India
Lamlai Village on the Senapati side is a charming settlement that offers a glimpse into the rural life of the local tribes. Unlike the more commercialized areas, Lamlai maintains a very traditional atmosphere where agriculture is the mainstay of the inhabitants. The village is situated on a gentle s lope, providing beautiful views of the surrounding paddy fields and pine-covered ridges. It serves as an excellent base for light trekking and exploring the lesser-known trails of the district. The architecture here is a mix of old wooden huts and newer semi-pucca houses, reflecting the changing times. One of the highlights of visiting Lamlai is the opportunity to see traditional granaries and the unique way the community manages its water resources. The villagers are known for their expertise in terrace cultivation, creating a staircase of green fields that look stunning from a distance. It is a peaceful destination, far from the noise of the highway, ideal for slow travel.
