Dzuko Valley Trek Base
The Dzuko Valley Trek Base on the Manipur side is located near the town of Mao. This high-altitude valley is famous for its rolling green hills and the endemic Dzukou Lily. The trek from the Manipur side is considered more challenging but offers more pristine views of the landscape. Visitors usuall y start their journey from Mao and proceed through dense forests. The valley is shared between Manipur and Nagaland, but the Manipur approach is less commercialized. It provides a serene atmosphere for trekkers looking for solitude. The altitude is approximately 2452 meters. The valley floor is crisscrossed by several cold-water streams. Legend says the valley was named 'Dzukou' meaning 'cold water' in the local dialect. Many trekkers prefer this side for its raw natural beauty. The base camp serves as a resting point before the final ascent. Local guides are available to navigate the steep terrain. The biodiversity here includes various rhododendrons and rare birds. It is a plastic-free zone and strictly monitored. The trekking path is a mix of steep climbs and flat meadows. This destination is a haven for botanists and adventure seekers alike. :
