Ma Parvati Temple

Ramgarh, Jharkhand, India
The Ma Parvati Temple or Maa Chhinnamastika Temple located at Rajrappa is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. This ancient temple is situated at the confluence of the Damodar and Bhera (Bhairavi) rivers. The deity worshipped here is Goddess Chhinnamasta, one of the ten Mahavidya s of Shakti. She is depicted as a self-decapitated goddess holding her own head in one hand, while three jets of blood spurt from her neck to feed her attendants and her own head. This imagery symbolizes the life-giving and life-taking aspects of nature. The temple is considered a powerful Shakti Peeth and attracts thousands of devotees daily. It is especially significant for tantric practitioners. The surrounding natural beauty, with a waterfall at the river confluence, adds a serene yet powerful aura to the shrine. Pilgrims often take a holy dip in the rivers before offering prayers. The temple is mentioned in ancient Puranas, including the Shri Markandeye Purana. Over the centuries, it has remained a focal point of tribal and Vedic worship. The current structure houses an idol placed on a lotus bed where Kamadeva and Rati are depicted. Visitors come here not only for spiritual reasons but also for rituals like marriages, first head-shaving ceremonies (Mundan), and vehicle blessings. The energy of the place is palpable, making it a must-visit spiritual destination in Jharkhand. :
