Panshet Dam
Panshet Dam, also known as Tanajisagar Dam, is one of the primary water sources for Pune city. Constructed in the late 1950s on the Ambi River, it is a massive earth-fill and gravity dam. The site gained historical notoriety in July 1961 when the dam wall burst, causing a catastrophic flood in Pune . Today, it has been completely rebuilt and transformed into a premier tourism hub. In 2026, Panshet is famous for its extensive water sports facilities and scenic beauty. The reservoir is surrounded by the lush green hills of the Sahyadris, which come alive during the monsoon with hundreds of temporary waterfalls.
