Reviews Of Kadyawarcha Ganpati Temple
Ganpatipule, Maharashtra, India
The Kadyawarcha Ganpati Temple is a legendary shrine located atop a steep cliff in the scenic village of Anjarle. Historically, this temple was situated on the seashore, but due to severe soil erosion and the encroaching sea, it was moved to its current mountain-top location in the late 18th Centur y (around 1768 to 1780). The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and the idol here is extremely unique because the trunk is turned towards the right, known as Ujwya Sondecha Ganpati, which is considered very auspicious and powerful in Hindu tradition. For centuries, this temple has been a spiritual lighthouse for sailors and locals alike, standing tall amidst dense coconut and betel nut groves. The journey to the temple itself is an adventure, involving a winding road that offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the Jog River meeting the ocean. Many devotees believe that the deity is 'Jagrut' (alive) and fulfills the earnest wishes of those who climb the hill with devotion. The temple complex is surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere, where the only sounds are the ringing of bells and the distant crashing of waves. It serves as a vital cultural landmark for the Konkan region, representing the resilience and deep-rooted faith of the local community. Visitors often feel a profound sense of peace while sitting in the temple courtyard, looking out at the vast horizon. The history of the temple is also linked to the Nisture family, who have been the traditional priests and caretakers since 1630. Over the years, the temple has seen various renovations, transitioning from a wooden structure to a sturdy laterite stone building. It remains one of the most visited pilgrimage sites for people traveling through Ratnagiri and Dapoli, offering a perfect blend of divinity and natural beauty that is hard to find elsewhere in India:
