Sihawa
Mythological and Geographical Significance: Sihawa is one of the most culturally and geographically important sites in Chhattisgarh. It is revered as the birthplace of the Mahanadi River, the state's lifeline, often called the 'Ganga of Chhattisgarh'. The Shrigi Rishi Ashram is located here on the S ihawa Hills (Mahendragiri Parvat), believed to be the place where Sage Shringi performed penance. According to the Ramayana, this sage performed the Putrakameshti Yagya for King Dasharatha, which led to the birth of Lord Rama. The ashram complex includes the shrine, meditation spots, and the sacred pool/stream linked to the Mahanadi's origin.
