Tilwara Ghat
Tilwara Ghat is one of the most historically and religiously significant ghats on the bank of the holy River Narmada in Jabalpur. Its immense importance stems from two major historical events. First, it is the sacred spot where the ashes of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, were immersed in the Narmada River after his assassination in 1948. A prominent Gandhi Smarak (memorial) stands here to commemorate this event. Second, the ground near the ghat, known as Tilak Bhoomi, is where national leader Lokmanya Tilak addressed a massive public rally in 1939, cementing its role in the freedom struggle.
