Travel Tips Of Burudih Lake/Dam

Ghatsila, Jharkhand, India:
Burudih Lake/Dam is a major tourist attraction in the Ghatsila subdivision, offering a serene and highly picturesque landscape. This spot is an artificial lake created by the construction of the Burudih Dam, primarily for irrigation purposes during the British Era. Nestled between two low-lying hill y ridges and surrounded by dense green forests, it provides a perfect tranquil retreat from city life. The clear, calm blue waters of the lake beautifully reflect the adjacent hills and the lush forest canopy, creating a scene often described as a magnificent natural painting. It has transformed from a functional reservoir into a popular destination for nature lovers, picnickers, and photographers. Visitors can engage in various relaxing activities, most notably boating on the lake (paddle boats and speed boats are sometimes available). The lake is also known for hosting a large, vibrant annual fair called the Binda Mela in the month of October. The tranquil environment, coupled with the opportunity for soft adventure, makes it an unforgettable experience. The entire area is rich in natural and cultural heritage, making it a perfect spot for those seeking solace or a connection with nature.:

Tourism Tips

Health & Safety: The lake area is remote, so be mindful of the surrounding forest and avoid venturing off known paths, especially near the dam structure. Boating should only be done with life jackets and authorized vendors. There are no major medical facilities nearby, so carry a basic First-Aid Kit.

Packing: Carry Mosquito Repellent, as the area is near a water body and forest. Bring a Sun Hat, Sunglasses, and Sunscreen. Pack enough water and snacks/food for your picnic, as formal restaurants are not available, though local tea stalls may be present.

Accommodation: There are no accommodations right at the lake. Visitors typically stay in hotels/resorts in Ghatsila town (10 KMS away) or Galudih (5 KMS away) and make a day trip to the lake.

Environmental Care: Do not Litter; carry back all your waste, especially plastics, to preserve the natural beauty and ecosystem of the lake and the dam area.

Photography: A Polarizing Filter is highly recommended for landscape photography to reduce glare on the water and enhance the sky's color.:
