Bhedaghat Boating Point

Bhedaghat, Madhya Pradesh, India
The Bhedaghat Boating Point, popularly known as Panchvati Ghat, is the primary starting point for all aquatic adventures in the region. This jetty is where the calm and deep waters of the Narmada River invite tourists to explore the hidden depths of the marble canyon. The boating experience here is unique because it is largely managed by local boatmen who have lived by the river for generations. As you depart from the ghat, the river is wide and serene, but as you move further, the marble walls begin to close in, creating an intimate and awe-inspiring environment. There are two types of boat rides available: the manual rowboats, which offer a slow and poetic journey, and the motorized boats, which are quicker. The boatmen are the soul of this place; they narrate the history of the rocks in a rhythmic, rhyming style that has become a local tradition. They point out various rock formations that resemble Hindu deities, animals, and even famous personalities. During the ride, you can witness local children performing daring "Marble Jumps" from the cliffs into the water for a small tip. The water here is crystal clear, and in some sections, you can see the white marble floor of the riverbed reflecting through the surface.
