Chaturdasha Temple

Agartala, Tripura, India
This historic temple, built in 1761 by King Krishna Manikya, is one of the most sacred sites in Tripura. It is dedicated to the Chaturdasha Devata (fourteen deities) who were the royal gods of the Manikya Dynasty. Legend says these gods were saved from a wild buffalo by Queen Harabari. The idols ar e made of Ashtadhatu (eight metals) and represent a unique blend of tribal and Hindu traditions. The temple stands in Old Agartala, which served as the capital before moving to the current city. Every year, thousands of devotees gather here to seek blessings and witness the grand rituals that have been preserved for centuries. It is a symbol of the deep spiritual heritage of the Tripuri people. :
