Ujjayanta Palace

Agartala, Tripura, India
History and Heritage of Royalty: Ujjayanta Palace was built between 1899 and 1901 by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya after the original palace was destroyed by an earthquake in 1897. From 1972 to 2011, it housed the Tripura Legislative Assembly. In 2013, it was transformed into the Tripura Government Museum, becoming the largest museum in Northeast India. It sits on the banks of two scenic ponds surrounded by beautifully manicured Mughal-style gardens, making it the most iconic structure in Agartala. Museum Highlights: The museum showcases the regal heritage and cultural artifacts of Tripura with 22 galleries featuring archaeological finds, numismatics, stone sculptures from sites like Pilak, oil paintings, and exhibits on Northeast India's tribal culture.
