How To Reach Barampur Village Pond

Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, India
The Barampur Village Pond (often referred to locally as Barampur Talab) is a traditional and picturesque village water body situated in the village of Barampur in the Pahari Chitrakoot region. While not a major mythological site like other places in Chitrakoot, the pond plays a crucial role in the e cological and social life of the rural community. It serves as a vital water source for agriculture and local needs, and a serene spot for relaxation and quiet observation of village life. The pond is a beautiful, naturalistic setting, often surrounded by agricultural fields and the simple homes of the villagers, offering a stark contrast to the busy temple sites. Its beauty lies in its simplicity and its deep connection to the local populace. Visitors are drawn to the tranquility and the opportunity to witness the daily rhythms of an authentic Indian village. It offers a glimpse into the less-traveled, cultural side of Chitrakoot, distinct from its purely religious appeal. The water body's peaceful ambiance is a draw for photography and quiet contemplation. Its proximity to other lesser-known spots like Pampasur and Gol Talab suggests a network of traditional water management.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Prayagraj Airport (IXD), approximately 135-140 KMS away. From the airport, hire a pre-booked taxi directly to the Barampur village area near Karwi.

By Train: The nearest major railway station is Chitrakoot Dham Karwi (CKTD), approximately 13 KMS from the village. From CKTD, you must hire an auto-rickshaw or a private taxi; shared jeeps are a more economical local option for this route.

By Road: Barampur is connected by local roads to the main town of Karwi and Pahari. From major cities like Satna or Prayagraj, take a bus to Karwi or Sitapur and then switch to a local mode of transport. The roads leading directly to the village may be rural and unpaved in the final stretch.

By Local Transport: The best way to reach Barampur Village Pond from the main Chitrakoot town area is by hiring a private taxi or negotiating a fare with a local auto-rickshaw driver for a round trip, as it is slightly off the main tourist circuit. Inform the driver that you are going to the pond near Pahari Bujurg.
