How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport to Ramgarh is Birsa Munda Airport (IXR) in Ranchi, which is approximately 60 to 70 KMS away from the Ramgarh city center. This airport has good connectivity to major Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. Upon arrival at Ranchi Airport, the best way to reach Bujurg Jamira is to hire a pre-booked taxi or a cab service directly to Bhadaninagar, the locality where Bujurg Jamira is situated. The drive takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions, navigating the NH 33 or alternative routes towards Ramgarh and then a local road turn-off near Teliyatu.

By Train: The closest major railway station is Ramgarh Cantonment Railway Station (RMT), which is a crucial junction with connections to various parts of India. Another close option is the Barkakana Junction (BRKA), which is often closer to the Bhadaninagar area, approximately 10 to 15 KMS away. Travelers can take express or local trains to either station. From Ramgarh Cantonment station, you should hire an auto-rickshaw or a local taxi. From Barkakana Junction, the distance is shorter, and a short auto-rickshaw ride will take you directly to the Bujurg Jamira spot in Bhadaninagar. Always confirm the final destination with the driver as the name might be known only to locals.

By Road: Ramgarh is very well-connected by National Highways. The place can be reached easily by road from major nearby cities. From Ranchi, the distance is about 50-60 KMS via NH 33. From Hazaribagh, the distance is approximately 65-70 KMS. The reservoir is located off the main highway, near the Bhadaninagar area. Driving your own vehicle or hiring a private taxi is the most convenient option, as it offers the flexibility to reach the slightly remote location. The route is scenic, especially the last few kilometers into the countryside.

By Local Transport: From the Ramgarh Cantonment Bus Stand or the main market area, a combination of local transport options is available. You can take a shared Auto-Rickshaw or local bus towards Barkakana or Bhadaninagar. From the main drop-off point in Bhadaninagar, you may need to hire a separate, smaller auto-rickshaw (Tuk-Tuk) or walk the remaining 1 to 2 KMS to reach the exact spot of the reservoir, as the final road is often unpaved and not serviced by regular public transport. Negotiate the fare with auto drivers beforehand, and be prepared for a slightly bumpy ride on the final leg of the journey.
