How to Reach
By Train: The nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi (JAT), approx. 280 KMS. From Jammu, take a taxi or bus to Srinagar or Anantnag, then another bus/taxi to Pahalgam (a very long, multi-day journey is possible). :
By Road: Pahalgam is well-connected by road (NH44) via Anantnag. From Srinagar (95 KMS), hire a taxi or take a JKSRTC bus. From Pahalgam town, local taxis (union taxis) or a pony are the only way to reach Aru Valley (12 KMS), which is the trek/ride start point for Gaganpathri. :
By Local Transport: From the Pahalgam Taxi Stand, take a local yellow tourist taxi (fixed-rate union taxi) to Aru Valley. From Aru, Gaganpathri is reached via a 3-4 KMS pony ride or a trek. :
