The Gangrel Dam, officially named Pandit Ravishankar Jalashay, is a vital and multi-purpose dam built across the Mahanadi River in Dhamtari district. Constructed and operational since 1979, it is the longest dam in the state of Chhattisgarh, stretching for an impressive 1,830 meters. How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is Swami Vivekananda Airport (RPR) in Raipur, approximately 90-100 KMS away. From the airport, one can hire a pre-paid taxi or a private cab directly to Gangrel Dam (Dhamtari). The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours.

By Train: The nearest major railway station is Raipur Junction (R). The nearest local station is Dhamtari Railway Station (DMT). From Raipur, take a train to Dhamtari or a bus/taxi. From Dhamtari Railway Station, the dam is only 15-17 KMS away, and a local taxi or auto-rickshaw can be hired.

By Road: Dhamtari is well-connected by road to Raipur and other major cities. The dam is about 15-17 KMS from the main Dhamtari city center. From Raipur, take NH30 towards Dhamtari. Private cars, hired taxis, and state transport buses (C. G. Roadways) frequently ply this route.

By Local Transport: From Dhamtari city, the most convenient local transport options are hiring a local taxi, a private cab, or an auto-rickshaw (e-rickshaws for short distances). Negotiate the fare in advance, especially for a round trip.
