How To Reach Hanuman Fall

Ramgarh, Jharkhand, India
Natural Beauty and Origin: Hanuman Fall is a captivating natural waterfall nestled in the dense forests and hilly terrain near the village of Banlotwa, a short drive from Ramgarh town, offering a picturesque escape for nature lovers and trekkers, with its name potentially derived from a local legend or a small shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman located nearby or within the vicinity of the flowing water, which is a common occurrence in many Indian natural sites: Seasonal Splendor: The true majestic appeal of the waterfall is witnessed during and immediately after the monsoon season (July to September), when the water volume significantly increases, cascading powerfully over the rocky cliff faces and filling the natural pool below, creating a stunning visual and a soothing roar that dominates the valley: Tranquil Environment: This spot is renowned for its tranquil environment and relatively untouched natural setting, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and a break from the urban clamour and pollution, allowing for peaceful contemplation and reconnection with the pristine environment of the Chota Nagpur Plateau region: Geological Features: The surrounding landscape is characterized by ancient Gondwana rock formations, which form the jagged cliffs and steps over which the water descends, while the entire area is part of the broader ecological system of Ramgarh and Jharkhand, rich in diverse flora and fauna that thrive in the moist microclimate created by the fall, further enhancing the site's appeal as a biodiversity hotspot and a place of environmental significance, encouraging eco-tourism and preservation efforts across the entire region.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest major airport is Birsa Munda Airport (IXR) in Ranchi, approximately 75-80 kilometers away, which is well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bangalore, from where one can hire a pre-booked private taxi or a local cab for the two-hour drive to Ramgarh, followed by the last leg of the journey to Hanuman Fall:

By Train: The closest major railhead is the Ramgarh Cantonment Railway Station (RMT) or the slightly busier Barkakana Junction (BRKA), both of which are connected to a large number of important cities in India, including regular express trains from Patna, Ranchi, and Howrah, upon arrival at Ramgarh Cantt, the falls are approximately 18-20 kilometers away, requiring a local transport option for the final stretch:

By Road: Ramgarh is strategically located on the intersection of major national highways (NH-33 and NH-11), offering excellent road connectivity, and from Ramgarh town, one must take the local road towards Banlotwa and Gandkey, which is a roughly 30-40 minute drive by private car or hired taxi from the main Ramgarh Cantt area, with the final kilometer potentially being a rough, unpaved village track:

By Local Transport: From the Ramgarh Bus Stand or near the railway station, the most economical option is to hire a local auto-rickshaw (a three-wheeler) or a shared jeep/trekker, though these modes of transport may only take you up to the main village road (Banlotwa), requiring a short final walk or a separate private arrangement for the last few hundred meters to the exact base of the falls, and ensure you negotiate the round-trip fare with the driver beforehand.
