How To Reach Kamadgiri Parikrama

The Kamadgiri Parikrama is a 5-kilometer holy circuit performed by devotees around the sacred Kamadgiri Hill. This ritualistic walk is considered one of the most meritorious acts in Hindu pilgrimage. The entire path is paved and mostly shaded by ancient trees like Banyan, Peepal, and Neem. As you w alk, you encounter a continuous string of temples, ashrams, and shrines, each with its own story. Many pilgrims choose to perform this parikrama barefoot, while some particularly devout followers perform the 'Dandavat Parikrama'—measuring the entire 5 KM distance by prostrating on the ground. The path is vibrant with the sounds of bhajan, the ringing of temple bells, and the chatter of pilgrims from all over India. Along the way, you pass through the Bharat Milap Temple, where the emotional reunion of Rama and Bharat is said to have occurred. There are several rest points and water stations provided by local trusts. Completing the circuit is believed to cleanse one's past sins and bring peace to the mind. It is a physical journey that transforms into a deep spiritual experience as you witness the collective faith of thousands.

By Road: The starting point is easily accessible from any part of Chitrakoot.
