How to Reach
By Train: Nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi (JAT), approx. 280 KMS. Take a taxi/bus to Anantnag, then a local taxi to Pahalgam, and finally the local union taxi to Aru Valley. :
By Road: Aru Valley is the roadhead. From Srinagar (107 KMS), take a taxi to Pahalgam and then the mandatory local union taxi to Aru. From Aru, the remaining 28-30 KMS to the glacier snout must be covered by Trek over 3-4 days with a certified local guide and support staff. :
By Local Transport: The entire journey from Aru Valley to the glacier is done on Foot (Trekking) or with the assistance of Ponies for luggage. No vehicular transport is possible beyond Aru. :
