How To Reach Masmohna View Point
How to Reach
Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport): The nearest major airport is Birsa Munda Airport (IXR) in Ranchi, which is approximately 70 to 80 kilometers away from the Masmohna View Point (via Ramgarh). The airport is well-connected to major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bangalore. From the airport, the best option is to hire a pre-paid taxi or a private cab. The drive typically takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic, and follows NH 320 (or similar major roads connecting to Ramgarh) before a final turn onto the local village roads leading to Argada/Masmohana. Negotiate the fare for a direct drop-off, which will be more expensive but more convenient, or take a cab to Ramgarh and then a local transport option.
By Train (Nearest Major Station:
Ramgarh Cantonment): The nearest convenient major railway station is Ramgarh Cantonment Railway Station (RMT), which is roughly 12 to 15 kilometers from the viewpoint. This station is on the Howrah-Gaya-Delhi line (via Grand Chord) and has good connectivity. Alternatively, a bigger rail junction is Barkakana Junction (BRKA), which is also a major hub and may be slightly closer (approx. 10 KM). From either station, the best onward travel is by hiring an auto-rickshaw or a local taxi. Ensure you clearly state the destination as Masmohna View Point near Argada village. The short ride is bumpy but scenic.
By Road (Self-Drive or Bus): Ramgarh is extremely well-connected by road, primarily through NH 33 and NH 20. From Ranchi, the journey is about 50-60 KM and takes about 1. 5 to 2 hours to reach the Ramgarh bypass. From there, follow the local roads towards Argada. The final stretch of the journey (around 2-3 KM) is often a dirt track or a rough, unpaved road, making a high-clearance vehicle (SUV/Jeep) highly recommended, especially after the monsoon. State and private buses operate frequently to Ramgarh from Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Bokaro. Disembark at the nearest major stop (Argada or Barkakana) and take a local rickshaw.
By Local Transport: From Ramgarh City Center, the most reliable local transport is an auto-rickshaw or a pre-booked local taxi. Since the last few kilometers are on a rough road, shared public transport options are scarce. Negotiate the fare for a round trip with the driver, including waiting time, as finding an auto for the return journey from the viewpoint itself can be very difficult. Local bikes (motorcycles) are a popular and flexible way for locals to navigate the final rough patch.
