By Train: The nearest major railway station is Haridwar Junction (HW), approximately 25 KMS from Chilla Gate. Haridwar is well-connected to all major cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata). From Haridwar, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to the Chilla Gate area, which is a shorter and quicker drive than from Rishikesh. The journey by road from the station is about 45 minutes.
By Road: Chilla Gate is well-connected by road, lying close to the Rishikesh - Haridwar route. From Rishikesh, it is about a 18 KM drive. One can hire a private taxi or an auto-rickshaw (a bit expensive for this distance) from the main areas like Ram Jhula or Laxman Jhula. The route is scenic, passing through the foothills. Self-drive is also an option, but for the safari, only authorized jeeps are permitted inside the core area. Local transport buses sometimes ply the route but may require a walk to the gate. It's best to hire a dedicated vehicle for the return journey, as local transport can be scarce near the gate after the evening safari. :
By Local Transport: Local shared auto-rickshaws (Vikrams) or taxis can be taken from Rishikesh to the Chilla area. For the most convenient experience, pre-booking a taxi or arranging a package tour that includes transport and the safari is highly recommended, as the area is slightly remote. :
