How To Reach Rishikesh Ram Jhula

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India:
Introduction and Overview: Ram Jhula is an important iron suspension bridge in Rishikesh that spans the holy Ganga River, connecting the area of Sivananda Ashram (often referred to as Sivananda Nagar) with the ashram complex of Swargashram and Parmarth Niketan. It was constructed in 1986 and is appr oximately 450 feet (137 meters) long. It's a bustling hub of spiritual and commercial activity, serving as a primary pedestrian route and offering stunning, unobstructed views of the river, the surrounding hills, and the temples that line the banks. The bridge's name is derived from Lord Rama. The walk across is a quintessential Rishikesh experience, characterized by the gentle sway of the bridge and the sights and sounds of the spiritual heartland of the city, including the chanting from ashrams and the calls of street vendors. It is the key access point to the world-famous evening Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan. The area maintains a strict pure vegetarian and alcohol-free environment, reflecting the city's holy status. The sheer volume of people—pilgrims, sadhus, and tourists—crossing the bridge at any given time makes it a fascinating spot for cultural observation and photography. Unlike Laxman Jhula, this bridge remains fully functional and central to the town's daily life. The market surrounding it is famous for spiritual supplies and Ayurvedic products. The bridge's significance is both practical, as a commuter route, and deeply spiritual, as a passage between two major spiritual centers. The energy on and around Ram Jhula is palpably vibrant and devotional, solidifying its status as a must-visit site for every visitor.:

By Train: The nearest railhead is Rishikesh Railway Station, about 4 KMS away. The primary station is Haridwar Junction, about 25 KMS away. From the Rishikesh station, take an auto-rickshaw to the designated parking areas on either the Sivananda Ashram or Swargashram side, as the bridge is pedestrian/two-wheeler only.

By Local Transport: Shared auto-rickshaws (Vikrams) and regular auto-rickshaws run frequently, connecting the bridge area to the city center and other major points. Walking is often the most enjoyable way to explore the immediate vicinity, especially the markets leading to the bridge, to avoid traffic and congestion. :
