How To Reach Thread Garden
How to Reach
By Train: The nearest major railway station is Mettupalayam (MTP), about 40 km from Ooty. From Mettupalayam, one can take the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site Nilgiri Mountain Railway (Toy Train) up to Ooty or hire a taxi/bus. The Toy Train ride is slow but very scenic and highly recommended. Coimbatore is the nearest major rail junction with broader connectivity.
By Road: Ooty is exceptionally well-connected by road (NH 181) to major South Indian cities like Coimbatore (88 km), Mysore (125 km), and Bangalore (280 km). State-run and private buses (SETC, KSRTC, TNSTC) run frequently. The Thread Garden is centrally located on North Lake Road.
By Local Transport: As it is only about 1. 5 km from the central Ooty Bus Stand and Railway Station, the garden is easily accessible by walking (15-20 minutes), local city buses, auto-rickshaws, or hired tourist taxis. Auto-rickshaws should be hired with pre-agreed fares. :
