Kareri Lake Trek Base
While Pragpur is in the lower hills, it serves as an excellent heritage base to reach the Kareri Lake Trek starting point. The trek base is located at Kareri Village, a picturesque settlement inhabited primarily by the Gaddi shepherds. From here, the trail leads up to a stunning high-altitude, fres hwater lake situated at an altitude of approximately 2,934 meters. The lake is fed by the melting snow of the Dhauladhar range and remains frozen from December to March. The trek is considered easy to moderate, making it a favorite for beginners. The path winds through thick forests of oak and rhododendron, crossing several wooden bridges over the Nyund stream.
