Naukuchiatal Lake
Naukuchiatal, which literally means "lake of nine corners," is a pristine water body situated at an elevation of 1,220 meters. It is the deepest lake in the Nainital region, with a depth of over 40 meters. Legend has it that anyone who can see all nine corners of the lake at a single glance, with t heir feet on the ground, will achieve Nirvana or spiritual enlightenment. The lake is fed by an underground perennial spring, ensuring its water remains clear and fresh throughout the year. Surrounded by lush hills and terraced fields, it offers a much quieter and more exclusive experience than Bhimtal or Nainital. The area is a hub for adventure sports, particularly Paragliding, where you can soar over the lake and land in the green meadows. It is also a fantastic spot for bird watching, as the surrounding forests are home to many exotic species.
